Primed Steel
Our steelwork is protected using a high-quality zinc phosphate primer, designed to provide an effective barrier against corrosion. The number of coats applied will depend on the environment in which the steel is to be installed.
Before any coating is applied, all steel is thoroughly prepared by shot blasting to SA2.5 industry standard. This process removes contaminants and creates an ideal surface profile, ensuring maximum adhesion and long-lasting performance of the primer. The coating is then applied using a professional spray system to achieve a consistent and durable finish.
As standard, all steel is primed in our signature colour. However, we can accommodate custom requirements and supply steel primed in any RAL colour upon request. While steel is often concealed within walls or ceilings, it is increasingly being left exposed as a design feature, with clients opting for finishes that complement their interior aesthetic.
For projects with specific safety requirements, we also offer the option of applying intumescent (fire-resistant) coatings to help meet fire protection standards.

Galvanised
Galvanised steel is commonly specified for applications where the material will be exposed to moisture, humidity, or consistently damp environments. It provides a highly effective solution for protecting steelwork against corrosion
The galvanising process involves immersing the fabricated steel into a bath of molten zinc, a method known as hot-dip galvanising. During this process, the zinc forms a bonded coating across the entire surface of the steel, including edges and internal sections where accessible. Once cooled, this coating creates a durable, protective layer that acts as a barrier between the steel and the surrounding environment.
This zinc layer not only prevents direct contact with air and moisture—the primary causes of rust—but also offers additional protection through a sacrificial effect. Even if the surface becomes scratched or damaged, the zinc will continue to protect the underlying steel by corroding in its place.
Galvanised steel is widely used in both structural and external applications, including outdoor frameworks, exposed beams, and areas prone to condensation or water ingress. Its long-lasting protection, low maintenance requirements, and resilience make it an ideal choice for projects where durability and longevity are essential.
